That persistent microwave

This is a story about a microwave; a microwave that we use where I live.

I woke up this morning to make breakfast which involved making use of the microwave. As it’s a Sunday morning, I was juggling a lot of things: food, prepare for Church, etc, so I left the food in the microwave and went about other things.

In 2mins, it was done and as with every microwave, it gave the beeping sound (5 beeps). I wasn’t ready to go get it so I just ignored. One minute later, 5 beeps again. Another minute later, a 3rd round of 5 beeps! No way! Even if I wasn’t ready to go get it, just to keep that microwave quiet, I went to attend to it.

Does this remind you of any story in the Bible? It does- The widow and the judge in Luke 18:2-5. It’s a story about persistence in prayer. Don’t give up on that request, your persistence would pay off.

Food for thought:

How do you balance persistence with faith since faith believes it has it when it asks?

Life nugget:

Luke 18:1 “Then Jesus told his disciples a parable to show them that they should always pray and not give up.”

How do you know what to be persistent for? There are times when what we are being persistent for isn’t God’s will.
