Essence versus Form

I learnt some deep things in School of Disciples today. That’s why I’ve been MIA. I apologize.  I was taught by an exceptional man- lawyer taught pastor; a man given to much reading and learning (he has over 5 degrees in diverse areas of study- Theology, Education, Sociology). The most important thing I learnt is to always keep an open mind- don’t be dogmatized. But we’d talk about something else.

What’s the difference between a man and a woman? In the basest form of our makeup, there’s no difference- we are all spirit. The differences come up in our form. It means the true essence of any human being is first spiritual before it is physical (form). Understanding this difference helps us grasp the concept of faith.

What is faith? Faith is believing that you already have what you asked for even before it is physically manifested. Therefore we can say faith brings essence into form. The story of creation is one of faith because even though Gen 1:11 tells us that God created the vegetation and it was so, Gen 2:5 tells us that no plant had grown because God had not caused it to rain on the earth. How was it then so? Because it was so in the essence before it even formed.

Perhaps this will helps us understand Faith a bit more.

Food for thought:

We cannot see the air we breathe yet we know it is there. Therefore we ‘live’ everyday by faith.

Life nugget:

John 20:29 “Jesus saith unto him, Thomas, because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: blessed are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.”

I like your connection between personal gender perceptions and faith. There could be myriad intricate paths to connecting the two, but it is never really something i have delved into (despite a friend being more or less obsessed with issue). The way you phrase it however, has really got me thinking. Thanks for that :)!
