A short true life story to begin: I know a certain guy who traveled out of his native country to go further his education. However, he always had a plan to return “home” after his studies to build his business empire. 1 year after the completion of his studies, he found himself stuck abroad – the fear of “what to do if i return” had crippled him. He began to think to himself, “maybe this place isn’t so bad after all”…he had gotten comfortable.
In the book of Luke 4, we see the beginning of the ministry of Jesus. He had enjoyed some level of success in his immediate environment so much that the people didn’t want Him to leave (vs 42). However, He kept the bigger picture in mind. In verse 43, the Bible says “And he said unto them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also: for therefore am I sent.” Jesus refused to get comfortable with the current level of success because that was not His ultimate goal.
I don’t know in what area of your life you may have gotten comfortable; maybe fear drove you to adapt or you just stopped trying. Check today; don’t get comfortable till you have achieved your purpose.
P.S. That guy in the story is me. I finally sat up and refused to settle after 1 and a half years. I’m back on track *halo*
